Not a hate crime. (Score: 0)

Yeah i think the petition starters jumped the gun, here. A hate crime is about doing something for racist/sexist/religious reasons, attacking an individual of an group, because of membership in that group.

This guy was probably a racist in the sense that a black woman who "studied hard, soft spoken" would not interest him (therefore making unchangeable genetics come into play). That's physical racism. But it's not a crime to be a racist.

This guy was looking at Chinese women with a culturalist view..
He probably thinks Chinese women have a better culture than other types of women, also not a crime.

So yeah, he might have had racist reasons to become interested in her to begin with. Also, culturalist reasons. But he killed her for none of these reasons, it seems.

and i definately don't think he was attacking us Chinese people as a group.. as he ranks us UP, not DOWN.

In reply to both of the guys under this post, I REALLY REALLY FAIL to see the advantage of white guys ranking Asian women "up" instead of down. The problem is that the guy is not seeing the woman, he's seeing his own DELUSIONS. The guy DID NOT PICK WANG BECAUSE OF HER PERSONAL QUALITIES. He picked her because he "liked" Asian women, and she was at the wrong place at the wrong time. The facts suggest that he DID NOT EVEN KNOW HER. Unfortunately, Asian fetishes do happen, and this is a case of it.

Unwelcome advances are sexual harrassment. Killing someone is murder. This guy directed his sexual harrassment at a MARRIED WOMAN because she was ASIAN, and then he MURDERED her when she wasn't interested. Although it's different from Vincent Chin in that there's a strong underlying element of sexual frustration, it's still racist. Asian fetish is RACIST. AND IT IS MOST CERTAINLY NOT A DESIRABLE THING.
