Re: Facing Up to Facebook Racism (Score: 1) by happy_pappy on Sunday, December 04 @ 00:13:14 EST (User Info | Send a Message) | Omega if I can direct this question at you since I'm new to this site and am trying to better understand the articles and exchanges I've seen so far. I will understand if you'd rather not reply (or even see this) in which case I'll continue to seek elsewhere the information I'm looking for.
Now during my short visit here thus far I feel I probably understand the site's main intention to get the word out about racism both direct or subtle in an either intentional or careless way against AA. Additionally the site provides information about ways for detecting and handling/combatting it. And if I'm correct so far, then while this is the main intent of the site I also see quite a lot of negative messages from AA users (as well as from non-AA but I'm really speaking about our AA group). Now such negativeness will no noubt come out at times for whatever reason. But in my opinion when this negativism is more dominant than the site's "public service" goal, then what is the site really for? Sure the forum area has many different topics, and I surely haven't visited enough of them to perhaps find the answers there myself, but to a new visitor to this site I'm not sure what to make of all the information I have received so far. There is really a lot of negative feelings here that I feel may overshadow the original main goals of the site. So again the question is what is this site really for and trying to achieve?
Thanks in advance for any feedback you can offer. |
