Re: Facing Up to Facebook Racism (Score: 1) by dawingsoffury on Friday, November 11 @ 14:46:03 EST (User Info | Send a Message) | Something tells me you didn't come here to understand your girlfriend's family. You came here to seek affirmation of what you already believe, which is everyone should be accepting of your relationship. Unfortunately, there are people out there (white, Asian, black, and Hispanics) who are not. Simply put, people are messed up. And this somehow shocks and "astonishes" you? What bubble did you grow up in? You cannot honestly expect me to believe that you two never discussed the racial implications of your relationship until confronted by her family situation? Please. What I find sad is that you are shocked and offended that yes, there are Asian people who are offended with the disportionate number of AF/WM relationships out there. Grow-up.
By the way, the divorce rate in this country has been hovering around 50%. So I wish you a 1/2 chance of actually getting and staying married to your girlfriend. |

Re: Facing Up to Facebook Racism (Score: 1) by OmegaSupreme on Friday, November 11 @ 20:39:18 EST (User Info | Send a Message) | Typical self-righteous, hypocritical response from someone who benefits as "a member of a powerful majority". While you are more than willing to call out people's reponses, not once did you even bother to acknowledge the racism described in the original article. Or any of the other thousand plus articles posted here, it seems. In other words, you only focussed on the "racism" that mattered to you.
And I seriously can't believe that you came on this site, expecting you would find advice on dealing with your girlfriend's family. You obviously have a narrow perception and viewpoint towards asians and asian americans. Keep looking for that manual on how to "deal with asians",and good luck with that "online search" of yours. |

Re: Facing Up to Facebook Racism (Score: 1) by Spirit on Saturday, November 12 @ 13:57:27 EST (User Info | Send a Message) | | You say that you're from Chicago. I think there are a lot of racists out there. And if you were looking for ways to relate to your girlfriend, how did you know to check out this article? you didn't even mention that racism surrounding the Facebook groups that those racist WMs organized. Maybe you're one of them. in any event you don't care about any of theis. You're just a racist. You see what you want to see, call other folks names for expressing indignation at something they consider to be offensive (like racism) and then moan and whine that we should accept you and your skank. Practically yelling out at the end of your first comment "We're not racists!!" is typical OF a racist. |
