Re: Asian Americans and Affirmative Action (Score: 1) by GeoffDB on Sunday, August 21 @ 05:45:17 EDT (User Info | Send a Message) | "...after emancipation, slaveships were rerouted from Africa to Asia to bring indentured servants."
Stop being silly. You're re-writing history. Either base your opinions on historical facts and be truthful or end your comments with a punch line and a drum roll.
Reconstruction followed slavery and the Emancipation Proclamation. Although there were laws enacted that excluded Chinese and Japanese, there were no slave ships who brought Asians to the US to be slaves. There is no history in the books to prove that Asian-Americans suffered the exact same type of segregation, exclusion and racism that was directed towards black Americans.
"...two-thirds of the blacks at Harvard aren't even descended from slaves--they're African or Carribbean immigrants..."
So what! There has never been any argument made in support of Affirmative Action programs that sought to differentiate African-Americans from African immigrants. White people in the US discrimminate against black people in general.
You're simply making those arguments to divide the black community.
You're not very clever. You are, however, true to your ancestory.
Nice try! |
