Re: Asian Americans and Affirmative Action (Score: 1) by parasiatic (EastAssassin@usa.com) on Saturday, August 13 @ 21:18:36 EDT (User Info | Send a Message) | If the children of the blacks, who were historically denied the same opportunities as the whites solely due to their race, come close enough to the minimum requirements for college entrance, then they should be admitted, as a compensation for the past discriminations and exclusions. I don't think there could be too many blacks who take away the admissions of the more qualified whites or Asians. For one thing, the percentage of the blacks who apply to or attend colleges, especially elite ones, is still much smaller than those of the whites and Asians.
Also, let's not overlook the fact that many "qualified" white applicants are over-rated and just not that much more qualified than their peers in other races. So, it's not like that really highly qualified whites are denied their opportunities because of the Affirmative Action. |
