Re: Harry Potter and the Asian American Image in Media- write more! (Score: 1) by OmegaSupreme on Thursday, July 28 @ 13:47:02 EDT (User Info | Send a Message) | Good thoughts; however, IMO, Amy Tan has done much more to reinforce stereotypes about asians, especially asian males, rather than counteract them. Case in point: The Joy Luck Club. I think we need more AA authors that are aware of the score AMs face in the media vs AFs and the affect the IR disparity has on AM emasculation and stereotyping.
Good luck with that though as most authors (especially AFs, sorry no offense intended) seem obsessed with "colorblind" relationships and looking to appeal to a "white" audience by romantically pairing AF characters specifically with WMs. |

People like historical movies, and people like warfare, it shows Korean at least in a positive light, as a people of military capability and innovation to be respected and emulated. |
