Re: Organizing Principles: The Myth of the Model Minority (Score: 1) by birch_barlow on Tuesday, June 28 @ 19:01:51 EDT (User Info | Send a Message) | "Out of all the groups in the US, which is the most successful and has the highest income? The whites, that's who. Are you still going to tell me that it's because whites have the highest IQ?"
I don't think it's really fair to compare Asians directly with whites, given (1)many are immigrants who came with relatively little, (2)Asian-Americans are less likely to be in the highest-paid age groups (say 45-64), (3) some Southeast Asian groups such as the Hmong drag down the overall Asian average.
I also never said that IQ is *the* deciding factor in success. In addition to the above issues regarding Asians, there are other factors that can affect economic success, such as conscienciousness, extraversion, and neuroticism (introversion and neuroticism (e.g. self-conciousness) probably don't help one's chances of economic success, and certainly don't help in areas like management and entertainment). |
