Re: On ''The Asian Female Mystique'' (Score: 1) by SheridanPrasso on Friday, June 24 @ 13:47:17 EDT (User Info | Send a Message) | Because it is an issue that affects the portrayals of as well as discussions about Asian males in Western culture, (and one that has prompted a movement in Asian male pornography in order to counter this view), I included in the book the only reputable study I could find on this subject, which was research at the University of California at Santa Barbara. However, as I point out in the book, this study does not reveal its methodology, nor take into account nutritional and other factors, including height and place of birth which affects early childhood nutrition and therefore other aspects of development.
It would have been an error of omission to leave out the issue entirely -- because, as I say, it plays a role in the stereotyping of Asian males in Western culture -- but I find this research to be inconclusive at best. |
