Off color humor? Well isn’t that the problem here, using race as a backdrop for humor especially using stereotypes that were used and presented from hate.
WHAT white privilege? Constantly being taught how horrible whitey was/is in school? Racial preference programs? Being called racist at the drop of a hat while non-white racialism is ignored or even actively encouraged (think taxpayer-funded and often mandated Asian/African/Chicano American studies)? Oh, and by the way, it seems like I've seen Tim Wise often quoted when the concept of white privilege is advanced or defended--never mind that he is a pathological liar and/or ignormus on racial issues [www.gnxp.com].

As for being ignorant on racial issues, you shouldn’t talk since you basically approve the use of racial stereotypes that are based from hate, to be consider as humorous. You can poke fun of all cultural customs, habits and convey a sense of curiosity and inquiry into a racial/culture form of humor, but making a blatant attack on way someone looks based on race or culture is tasteless.

As for "Asian-American Empowerment," I don't think whining about training videotapes is going to empower much of anyone other than the ethnic advocacy leaders who exploit any "outrage" they can find. I also don't think advocating socialism is terribly empowering for a group that is disproportionately professional and well-off (this especially applies to ABC's of Chinese and Japanese descent, if admittedly not as much so for immigrants and some Southeast Asian groups).
Whining? Allowing hate –related stereotypes to continue with out proper education to parallel it is an issue and would be empowering to counter it. WOW talk about being “ignormus on racial issues”, I guess you brought into the whole MODEL MINORITY MYTH. Just because so called certain amount of asian americans have wealth that doesn’t means all avenues on racial hate and stereotypes is prohibited. How does wealth suppose to compensate for racial profiling and stereotyping?

Its cruel and inhuman because we can SEE OURSELVES in the position of that kid, and feel the pain of being mocked for something you cant help. Or even worse, we IMAGINE the pain of being unable to understand why people mock us. Thats why many people cant stand making such vicious jokes.
The reason why you think its ok for that ass of a team owner to mock asians, is because you lack imagination. You lack the ability to see yourself as an asian person, being treated like shit. And you lack this ability because you conciously or unconciously, hate asians, and do not see them as human beings. Because if you DID see them as human beings, you could empathize with their plight when others mock them.
Fortunately, its people like you who live and die and never leave a mark on this earth more substantial than a skidmark on toiletpaper. |
