To JS-Re: Protestors Boycott Radio Station for Tsunami Comments (Score: 1) by JS on Friday, February 18 @ 22:55:35 EST (User Info | Send a Message) | | To DalaiWU: I never said it was just ignorance. I know all too well about racism as a Korean-American woman. I have heard that word chink many times and have been spit at, punched, threatened and humilated just by the color of my skin. I understand all too well about what its like to be discriminated and attacked unjustly because I'm Asian. Of course, its racism and its deliberate! I never said it wasn't. I see it as pure hate! We have to join forces to fight back. What makes me so angry is that Emmis Communications, the parent company of hot 97, allowed this spread of hatred and racism. Its not just a few arrogant Blacks, it's also an institutional white racism as well, who profited over the "tsunami song." I have called, emailed, written letters, attended protests to fight against hatred and violence against Asian Americans. We need to fight hatred and racism towards Asian Americans NOW and NOT LATER! Our future and survival in this country depends on it. |
