Re: The Election, the Baby, and the Bathwater (Score: 1) by DalaiWu on Tuesday, February 01 @ 21:12:49 EST (User Info | Send a Message) | If I voted, I would vote for whomever would represent Chinese interests. Currently, it would be anyone who supports a global economy and increased commerce here in NYC Chinatown. If the market is up, Chinatown does more business; more people come to eat and prchase our goods and services; more tourists arrive; our private transportation companies thrive, etc.
Bottom line, their politics are inconsequential. How honorable they treat us and how we are benefitted by their treatment of us is of paramount importance.
Personally, money buys a lot more than votes.
And obviously, since We have zero representation per say, We Chinese have survived here quite well for many generations because of that fact. We earn a living, send our children to the best schools, they continue the cycle, and we stay out of the FRAY, using the system to advance our family's welfare. That works for me and my children, and in a couple of years, they will complete their educations and it will work for them as well.
