Re: Asian-Americans in the U.S. Military (Score: 1) by Seraphfire on Wednesday, October 06 @ 17:13:10 EDT (User Info | Send a Message) | % of US-born Japanese veterans > % of US-born non-Asian veterans vs. their respective populations.
Filipinos are more highly represented in the military now but most were not US-born. I was trying to highlight patriotism. Since joining the military boosts an immigrant's chances of US citizenship I wanted to use only US-born citizens to show they had no ulterior motive for joining the military.
As for West Point, cadets are technically in a real military command when they enrolled. Yes, this is First Captain at the academy, a commander of cadets. (Basically, it is like being the valedictorian).
Someone who has been in the Army could probably describe it better. |
