Re: A Newfangled Version of Suzie Wong? (Score: 1) by bwfish on Wednesday, August 18 @ 13:52:40 EDT (User Info | Send a Message) | If you are referring to me (BWFISH), then point to me where I am wrong. I repost my points here:
First. We need more AFs like yourself to acknowledge this status quo to be true. Recognize that it is a problem.
Second. Stop defending the AFs that contribute to this problem.
Third. Ask your fellow AFs to look into themselves to see why they are contributing to this.
Third. Stop doing it.
And Maogirl, I have given a specific to do list for the AFs to solve this problem (if you acknowledge it as a problem in the first place). What will you have me, as an AM, do?

Re: A Newfangled Version of Suzie Wong? (Score: 1) by DalaiWu on Wednesday, August 18 @ 20:05:51 EDT (User Info | Send a Message) | You are absolutely correct; there are many of the Chinese on this site cannot relate to:
"Opium Wars".
"Imperialism".
"Christian missionaries".
"No Chinese or Dogs Allowed".
"Sick Men of Asia".
"Rape of Nanjing".
"Cultural Imperialism".
"Western Decadence".
But do not label them as "sellouts", because that is only one possibility. There may be a whole host of reasons; let us not make assumptions and allow for the many possibilities for the disadvantaged and their disabilities. Maybe they came from a broken home; maybe they were adopted by Westerners; maybe they cannot speak the language, so they cannot think properly; maybe they came from a hermit family and grew-up in a cave; maybe they would have been drowned at birth, if they were born on a farm with parents who knew that they could not afford the medical care for their child's disability.
Be kind, it may not be their fault....
