Re: Police: Women Forced Into Sex Trade to Pay Debts (Score: 1) by suikana (suikana@hotmail.net) on Wednesday, July 28 @ 10:53:35 EDT (User Info | Send a Message) http://www.anakius.com/details | dalaiwu- have you ever lived in communist china? i'm not sure how much you keep up with international news but given the little that i know, i would have to disagree when you say life would be better for them there. besides, even if we were to tell them to stay in china, while living in the U.S. ourselves, wouldn't that come off as *somewhat* patronizing and hypocritical?
in any case, it seems to me that you are pretty disillusioned with "america" which i feel all the time as well. but the reality is that all these ideals that america sells to the rest of the world are just that.. IDEALS. they have a long ways to go before becoming reality. lately i've realized another meaning of being "american".. because america is about change for the better and NOT accepting the status quo as good enough. with that definition, i would gladly say that as asian american and POC activists, we in actuality are MORE american than your "typical american" so DO continue to knock on the U.S. but DON'T give up in thinking that you and others can make impacts on our country for the better. |
