(User Info | Send a Message) | | Its been said that Asians are the new Jews in reference to our success and model minority status. I guess the old Jews don't like that. One of the reasons the Jews have become so powerful is their solidarity. I would like for us to do the same. Support Asian businesses, vote for Asian friendly politicians, boycott anti-Asian films and businesses, and teach our fellow brothers and sisters that we are second to none and our ethnicity is nothing to be ashamed of. Let the unwashed uneducated masses have their pop culture media stereotypes. These things do not define who we are. Let them have their bread and circuses. Mass media and pop culture is entertainment and advertising, nothing more. In the grand scheme of things these things are trivial. The power they have over us is only what we give them. There is something fundamentally wrong with a society that allows entertainment to serve as education. We need to recognize this and take steps to correct it, for the media is against us, make no mistake about that. And we can fight back with the voice given to us by our economic power. Let us have no more Vincent Chins or Wen Ho Lees. |
