Re: Asian Male Bashing in American Media (Score: 1) by Mai-Sai-Le on Wednesday, June 23 @ 17:17:15 EDT (User Info | Send a Message) | Well I tell you what. It's true. I've watched Asian films portrayal of Asian men and American films potrayal of Asian men. By far it's completely different. Asian films do portray some Asian men as thugs and what not. But it isn't the same as when America does it. When America does it, it's with an evil, racist agenda to dehumanize the Asian male.
Asian films show the Asian male in a wonderful, beautiful, light. Even in their martial arts film, usually he'll have a love interest, there will be some drama going on and so forth. He's not just "ha yaiin'" all over the place mindlessly.
Well, maybe it'll take the interest of the Asian media overseas to work hand in hand with the Asian-Americans to get rid of this image. I'm sure some people must be working on this already. Cause this is messed up. Something has to give. |
