(User Info | Send a Message) | | Couldn't say better myself. "Asian-American" is a code word for white, especially if you are from the burbs. I live and grew up in San Francsico. All this self-pity among "AA" is pityful. In San Francisco, its cool to be asian. We all speak our language, we all have our own community. We all have our charity and most importantly we have our history and culture. CFY and Bruce Lee were my male idols growing up. Babara Yung was my ideal beauty. Genghis Khan was my political hero. Li Kai Shing is my business hero. Also, I went to China to study while in college, and I felt that China was more home to me than Berkeley or Washington DC (I worked in DC and went to school at Berkeley). If you go to Vietnam or Korea, Chinese communities over their are much more proud, cultured, and cohesive than here in America. Also, African-American and Latin-American are very distinct in their culture. You will never get them confuse with Whites. They change American Culture. White people copied them and are influenced by them. Think JLO, Hip Hop, and basketball. What have "asian-americans" done but sell out and become white. Especially the suburban kids. Don't believe me. Close your eyes and listen to an African American or a Latin American speak. YOu will never get them confuse with whites. Close your eyes and listen to an "AA" speak and you swear its a white guy. There is no such thing as "asian-american culture", just light white culture. You want to see how Chinese preserve their culture in a foreign land, go to Vietnam or Korea. YOu want to see how overseas Koreans preserve culture, go to Shanghai. Asian-Americans assimiliate and sell-out the most in America. And most don't even know what they are throwing away. The sell-out because of ignorance. And if you know any history you will see that the White-men have tried to change Asians for thousands of years and its never worked, until now. HOw sad. You took the words out of my mouth. I feel a lot better now that I know someone else feels the way I feel. You go girl |
