(User Info | Send a Message) | | japan did benefit (economically) from the west. that's a fact. golden wouldn't be wrong if he said that. it sounds like he presents a eurocentric view of japan but that in itself isn't a crime. as for mineko, did golden say he was writing about her or a fictionalized composite? if it's the latter then the sex thing is fair too i think. she herself admits some geishas (and i would think during the war and immediate post-war period when the economy was in shambles!) did go down that road. the worse you can say is he's a toad. |
