Re: Infatuation is a red herring (Score: 0) by Anonymous on Monday, October 21 @ 09:45:12 EDT | why is RACE a big issue in this story? You read often about men killing women or occasionally women killing men.
This seems a classic tale of a man who had a crush on a woman but she rejected him. She started to avoid him. She sat far away from him. He was hurt by her rejection. Maybe this man has been rejected often in his life- starting from childhood. The woman was nice to him and now she is cold to him. Another rejection. He feels that there is something wrong with him. He feels suicidal. And so often you read in the newspaper about men killing the women who rejected them (ex-girlfriends, wives asking for divorce, etc). And recently- there was a case of a woman who killed her husband after she found out that he was having an affair.
Some people get depressed when they get rejected. And those with low self-esteem become suicidal and they kill the object of their affection for revenge.
So why do people bring up her race or ethnicity or talk about Asian fetish or white oppressors? Why can't it simply be a story about rejection and hurt feelings? |
