focusing on the particular issues of particular communities probably works better for that community, since a general solution, as pointed by the article, doesn't work for all cases. working in a specific community does not imply not caring about other communities. if it is one's community that needs help, to me, it seems correct to work with those issues and people that are most immediate in one's life.

I understand the kinds of challenges SE asians face at different levels of society because I gone through some of it myself. There are cultural differences that I don't expect non SE asians to empathize with and because so, I don't think they can provide in-depth help at personal level.

I actually worked more with Blacks and Hispanics more in the past, but would like to focus on SE Asians now.
